DEVON BROUGHTON

Where are you currently based at the moment?

Right now, I’m living between London, Cape Town, and Los Angeles.

What are your first thoughts on awakening in the morning?

Honestly, I usually check in with myself, set my intentions for the day, and follow through with positivity and gratitude.

Do you drink coffee or tea?

Coffee.

Do you sing in the shower? If so, what was the last song?

Absolutely. My favourite song to sing is I Love You Baby by Frank Sinatra, I try to channel my inner Heath Ledger.

Did you ever imagine yourself becoming a model?

Yes. As a child, I always wanted to be famous, haha. I also always enjoyed art. I guess the way I presented myself to the world, whether through the camera or otherwise, became my performance art.

Which photographer photographed you first?

Michael Oliver Love & Louis Daniel Botha.

What about modeling do you enjoy?

I love meeting creative people, being in front of the camera, traveling, getting ready and the good energy on set. It’s great fun and I feel most alive and myself.

Any humbling moments from your first time on a shoot or the runway?

I think the most universal one is having to change clothes in public when there’s no other option.

What accomplishment are you most proud of at the moment?

Probably hitting 1.8 million on TikTok and being close to 1 million on Instagram. But honestly, the real win was learning to be proud of myself and helping inspire others along the way. Meeting and being inspired by incredible people throughout the process has been such a blessing, I’m so grateful.

A fictional hero?

The Lion King.

A heroine?

Marilyn Monroe.

What would be your superpower?

Healing. If I could have any superpower, I’d want the ability to heal someone’s physical or emotional pain. So many people suffer in silence and if I had one wish, it would be to take that pain away and bring love, health, joy, laughter, happiness, and peace.

Do you read books? If so, what was the last one?

Yes. I love reading about psychology. The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious by Carl Jung.

Is there a quote that speaks to you?

“Be who you needed when you were younger.” That guides a lot of what I do.

Talking or texting?

Both.

How would you describe your personal style?

Classic.

Motorcycle or car?

Car.

What does your grooming regimen look like?

Simple but sacred: cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen.

What do you think is the sexiest thing about you, and do others see it the way you do?

My boldness. I think it takes strength and courage to put yourself out there despite what people think. People might see the exterior first, but those who stay tend to notice the soul.

What advice would you give your younger self about life and confidence?

Don’t wait for anyone else to believe in you—believe in yourself first. Go for it! If other people try to tear you down, that’s on them. Do it for you. So many people are waiting to be saved or discovered, but they don’t realise the only person who’s going to save them is themselves. Don’t do it for your parents, your neighbours, or whoever’s watching you. You have to be the one to believe in yourself first. You know which way the light is, go in that direction. Believe in yourself. Remember who you are. Forgive and let go. I love you. You’ve got this.

What makes you very happy?

A good night’s rest, being with the people I love, laughter, connection, sunlight and nature..

Dogs or cats?

Dogs.

What do you expect from your friends?

For them to be themselves and to know that they are more than enough just as they are.

What does your exercise regimen look like?

I train five to six times a week. Push, pull, legs is my go to. Self-discipline keeps me grounded.

What is your main flaw?

I may overthink at times…

What quality do you appreciate most in a woman?

Warmth. A woman who makes you feel at home just by being near. And a sense of humour, it’s important to find joy in the little things in life.

What quality do you appreciate in a man?

I’d say self-discipline, wisdom, kindness and emotional intelligence. Strength without compassion is just noise.

Friday or Sunday?

Sunday. It’s reset energy. Peaceful. Reflective. Beautiful.

Wine or beer?

I don’t drink.

Your favorite city?

It’s such a hard question. I love New York, Cape Town, London and LA. I like to find the balance between city life and nature.

Ocean or mountain?

Ocean. Always. Both heal me.

What makes a perfect man?

To me, it’s someone who accepts that they are not perfect, and that it’s okay. To accept one’s imperfections and nonetheless see perfection in imperfection itself is the greatest gift one can give to the world and themselves. To be kind, grounded, unique and confident in your energy. Perfectly imperfect.

A place to lose yourself?

Anywhere with nature.

What social issue are you most passionate about?

I’d say mental health. We need more open conversations, less stigma and for people to gently accept that it’s important not only to be kind to the world but also to yourself.
