IZZAC THOMAS

So great to finally sit down with you, Izzac—thank you for taking the time. Let’s begin with where you currently call home?

I’m currently based in Paris.

What’s your first thought when you wake up?

My first thought is usually about what song I want to play to help me get out of bed.

What’s a typical day like for you?

As a freelance artist, I have to practice a bit of discipline with my day—otherwise, I just end up doing nothing. So I make myself a schedule every morning with a list of things I want to achieve. That usually includes coming up with new creative projects and figuring out how to bring them to life.

Coffee or tea?

Definitely coffee.

What do you have for breakfast?

I have four eggs on toast.  I’ve had the same breakfast every day for my entire life.

Do you sing in the shower? If so, what was the last song?

Lip sync? Yes. Singing? No. The last song was probably Suzanne by Mark Ronson & RAYE.

Boxers or briefs?

Briefs. If I wear boxers, I wear briefs underneath—ahahah. I like everything held together neatly and comfortably.

At what age did you start dancing?

I started at fourteen.

Are you part of a dance company at the moment?

No, right now I’m trying to expand my career beyond just dancing. Being in a dance company drastically reduces the time I have to explore new things.

What did it truly feel like the first time you stepped on stage on opening night?

Honestly, it’s fun and gives you adrenaline. But for me, I’m more interested in studio moments with other dancers, creating something together. Those moments feel more pure and unpolished. That’s a better representation of art in the form of dance.

Who inspires you? And are there any iconic dancers or performers you admire?

All of my friends inspire me. Whenever I see someone I love share their talent, I’m inspired to nurture mine.

Did you ever imagine yourself becoming a model?

I always wanted to when I was younger, but didn’t think I could do it. As I got older, I gained more confidence and found my place in the modeling world.

Is there a fashion brand you’ve enjoyed working with the most so far? Why?

I really enjoy working with all brands. Each one is a new experience, which is always important. For me, any brand that represents and celebrates queerness is one I’ll always be interested in.

Any humbling moments from your first runway experience?

I recently walked in a show where my pants were super heavy—and they fell down on the runway. My full butt was out for the world to see.

Do you get bored easily?

Definitely. I get hyper-fixated on something for a week and it’s all I do—then suddenly,  like a switch,  I get bored and move on to the next thing.

What makes you very happy?

My friends, of course.  I’ve made some really great choices about who I let into my life.  It’s a special thing to find people who embrace and love you unconditionally. They’re my safe space.

What music is on your phone right now?

I’m currently listening to Space Song by Beach House. The clouds are out in Paris this morning, so I’m leaning into the melancholia.

What accomplishment are you most proud of right now?

Ok, this might sound cheesy—but I’d say my biggest accomplishment is continuing to choose myself and my happiness. For someone like me,  it’s easy to fall into boxes that other people tend to create.  But I’ve always wanted to walk my own path and build my future independently.

Do you ever allow yourself a day of just lying in bed?

Yes. I’m working on allowing myself to do that without feeling guilty for not being “productive.” I’m learning that rest is useful too, and you don’t have to be working constantly to be successful.

What beauty products do you use?

I use makeup all the time.  I’ve loved it since I was a kid. As I got older, I used it more and more, and it helped me embrace the person I am today.

Do you have a favorite cologne?

My favorite fragrance is Le Labo’s Tonka.

If you had a superpower?

Love.

Is there time for love in your schedule?

I struggle with that a bit. When I fall in love, I tend to wrap myself up in it completely and forget all the structure I’ve built. I want to spend all my time with that person. So I need to be stricter with myself.

What’s the sexiest thing about you—and do others agree?

I think my positivity is the sexiest thing about me—lol. I don’t know if others see it the same way. I know I have some sexy physical qualities, but the thing I like most about myself is more about my brain than my body.

What advice would you give your younger self about life and confidence?

I’d say—when you make decisions about who you want to be, stop factoring in how others will perceive you or whether they’ll still find you attractive.

What would be your superpower?

Ok,  I’ve thought about this a lot—it’s kind of nerdy—but I’d want to manipulate and change things on a molecular level. So I could shapeshift, manipulate matter, turn my skin to diamond, grow wings, or turn a table into liquid, mold it into a chair, then solidify it again. It just seems like the most powerful option!

A place to lose yourself?

I pretty much exclusively read fantasy novels, so I’d definitely say that’s my escape.

What social issue are you most passionate about?

I always have been—and always will be—a lifelong advocate for trans rights.

Friday or Sunday?

Friday, baby.

Ocean or mountain?

The Australian in me wants to say ocean—but lately, something in me has been craving a cabin in the mountains.

Your favorite city?

Either Paris or Sydney.

Your favorite food?

Carbonara or ramen—‘til I die.

Beyond dance, what are some of your passions or hobbies? What do you enjoy doing in your downtime?

Anything that involves creating. Lately, I’ve been into drawing, writing, crocheting, and giving myself tattoos.

If you had a choice, where would you spend your last day on Earth?

Anywhere with my best friend.

What’s your bedtime ritual, and what do you wear to sleep?

It usually involves playing Nintendo Switch and falling asleep to my audiobook. I sleep naked ;)

What makes a perfect man?

The perfect man is someone who can think freely and love openly—without fear of being judged. Someone fun, passionate, and inspired by the world around them :)

Dogs or cats?

Both.

What do you expect from your friends?

Honesty.

Your exercise routine?

I’d say whatever makes me sweat—yoga, surfing, Pilates, swimming, working out. I don’t always stick to a routine, but I stay active.

Your biggest flaw?

They say if you want to start a war, just speak your truth. My transparency sometimes makes me give too much of myself.

What quality do you most appreciate in a woman?

Authenticity. A woman who’s true to herself, confident in her choices, and doesn’t shape-shift to please others. Emotional intelligence, humor, kindness—those really stand out.

And in a man?

Honor and integrity. A man who keeps his word, respects others, and stays true even when no one’s watching. Also, sensitivity and the courage to be vulnerable.

A place to lose yourself?

Inside myself. In the ocean. In nature. Or in the body of someone I love.

What social issue matters most to you?

The lack of empathy—for people, for animals, for nature.

Friday or Sunday?

Sunday. Calm and fun.

Wine or beer?

Wine.

Favorite city?

That’s hard… but Bali.

Ocean or mountain?

I really love the ocean. But I’ll still climb that mountain, too.

Nighttime ritual? What do you wear to bed?

I pray. And wear loose clothes.

What makes a perfect man?

Perfection isn’t about being flawless. A perfect man is genuine—he respects others, takes responsibility, listens with empathy, and stays grounded in his values. He’s confident without arrogance, strong with kindness, and loves deeply while leaving room for growth.
